Collaborative Medicine Soon a Reality for Providers in Southeastern Idaho

CLEVELAND, OH (Feb. 2, 2009)—Noteworthy Medical Systems, Inc., announced a partnership today between Portneuf Medical Center, Medical Resources of Idaho (MRI) and the Idaho Association of Physicians (IDAP) to form a community-wide health information exchange for providers in southeastern Idaho. Portneuf Medical Center is the largest medical center in southeastern Idaho for advanced patient care; Idaho Association of Physicians and Medical Resources of Idaho are independent physician associations ("IPAs") representing approximately 200 physicians in the region.

Portneuf Medical Center, MRI and IDAP are providing sponsorship to access Noteworthy's web-based technology. The application will facilitate improved patient care, communications among care givers and the sharing of detailed clinical data among community providers, the 14 community hospitals in The Hospital Cooperative, and the referring lab and radiology groups, pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers, health plans, and other healthcare data providers in the region. "We anticipate at least 100 physicians signing on within the first six months to experience the immense benefits that Noteworthy's other connected communities already enjoy," said Stephanie Conoley, co-director, Idaho Association of Physicians.

Noteworthy's technology includes a sophisticated electronic health record (EHR), electronic prescribing, and a medical results and workflow manager that can be deployed separately from the EHR. Additionally, the application serves a dual purpose as a turn-key health information exchange (HIE) that allows providers to communicate and share vital clinical information in the context of their daily workflow. The technology allows physicians to electronically share medical charts, manage access to clinical data, manage wellness, send referrals and consults, and communicate within the community of providers. It also allows providers and clinics to electronically communicate with insurers.

"Noteworthy's Connected Care Network is a dream come true for physicians connecting with other providers about the care of their patients. This state-of-the-art technology creates a whole new way of communicating among physicians, hospitals, pharmacies and laboratories. By providing a direct linkage with every provider on the network, our ability to coordinate patient care will be brought into the 21st century," said Ben Call, MD, practicing cardiologist and president of the Idaho Association of Physicians.

Noteworthy's tightly integrated suite of applications was developed to meet the practice management and EHR needs of a physician's practice, in addition to providing a platform for addressing the larger strategic challenges of sharing crucial clinical data between community providers and the collaboration required among providers to treat patients. Providers have access to technology that automates data sharing between care providers, hospitalists and the myriad of data providers nationwide so all the information is in one place—at their desktop or tablet PC, in an easy-to-use format.

"Introducing Noteworthy's cutting-edge technology into Southeast Idaho is a huge step forward in providing a higher standard in patient care. The ability to have our medical community communicate and share data electronically increases patient satisfaction and vastly improves efficiency," said William Schubert, MD, obstetrics and gynecology, and president of MRI.

According to Paul Ruflin, Noteworthy's president and COO, Noteworthy's application currently manages community health records in 18 communities—some with industry-leading provider participation rates of 85 percent or more. "Because our connected care solution enables wellness reporting and alerting at the physician, clinic and community levels, we are a long-term resource of health information to help providers and healthcare systems enjoy better communication and more informed decision support with their referring and consulting peers and patient population," said Ruflin. "The result is the opportunity for unsurpassed collaborative medicine."
